Project Pingalwara

“I want nothing for myself”

Bhagat Puran Singh

Project Pingalwara was BFS largest charity project led by Amerjit Singh Walia, Senior Gatka Instructor with Baba Fateh Singh Gatka Akhara based in SGSS Hounslow.

Project Pingalwara raised awareness amongst people of the excellent work of Pingalwara and got our communities involved in charity work, fundraising, and enjoyed the fruits of sharing and giving. Also we were able to appreciate our privileged position in this country, our safety, security, wealth, and health.

Ultimately we reminded ourselves of the importance of ‘seva’ beyond ourselves and think of people who have very little whilst being rejected by society. Finally, we gave our time and energies to those people regardless of caste, religious faith, and disability and spread the message of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji.

OBJECTIVES:

  • To raise awareness of the plight of the disadvantaged people of Punjab;
  • To educate young people of aims of the Pingalwara charity its excellent work;
  • To involve people in the fundraising events and raise the profile of Pingalwara within the UK;To understand and acknowledge the work started by Bhagat Puran Singh Ji on poverty, concern for all living creatures, and the environment;
  • To challenge our physical and spiritual minds by undertaking major fundraising events;
  • To bring together people regardless of race, religion, gender or disability through events;
  • To bring a serious message through a fun, involvement of families, communities and strenuous efforts.

We successfully raised £10,000 for Pingalwara; and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported this project from the donations through to those who organized and took part in the fundraising events.
